Psalm 19 is a wonderful declaration of God's beauty and precious guidance to us. It is such a gift to have the wisdom of God given to us through his Word. To be without the guiding light of Scripture is to be stumbling around in the darkness of selfishness and fear. God's decrees, his laws, are firm. They don't change as the laws of our countries do. They are forever and are always righteous. They show us what is right to do and they provide us with a pathway to being right with God. This is the way to peace and love. The great reward isn't money or status or power, although sometimes God gives us those things. The great reward is to see into God's character and to become more like him. It is to have the assurance that through the blood of Jesus Christ that our sins are forgiven and that we are promised eternal life with God.
Thank you Lord for giving the Psalmist the gift of poetry. Through the beautiful words of this Psalm, you refresh my soul. I thank you that every time I see the sky, the sun, the stars that I am reminded of your enduring love, and sovereignty over us.
