“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road
that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and
narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” Matthew
7: 13-14 NIV
It is hard to be an outlier.
I think it is basic human nature to want to be part of the bigger
society and to fit in. It is a difficult
choice to be different. But as always,
the Bible states it as it is. Not
necessarily as the way God wants it to be, but, because we have free choice,
the way it happens to be. This desire to be the captains of our own fate, to be
our own God is so powerful. We hear
repeatedly: believe in yourself – which really translates into not believing in
God; why bother when you can just look to yourself and make your own selfish
life regardless of its lasting impact.
In the Christian body we have a communion of saints that
goes back over centuries,
millennia. They are our brothers and
sisters forever. When we die, they will
welcome us into heaven. There we will be
of one spirit.
