Listening

“He said to him,  “If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.”” Luke 16:31 NIV

In this parable, Jesus had Abraham talking to an unbeliever who has died and gone to a place of torment.  The unbeliever says that someone should go and warn his friends and family about the fate they are about to suffer.  Abraham’s response is basically that they have been told, they have been warned, they have all the information they need, but that they still choose to rebel against God.  Even when Jesus rose from the dead, still so many didn’t want to believe in him or his teachings.
Sometimes I feel frustrated that people are so oblivious but feeling frustrated doesn’t help me or anyone else.  I just have to accept that since the time of Moses rebellion against God has been the option of choice for many people. Even after their miraculous escape from Egypt, when Moses went up the mountain to meet with God, the people quickly fashioned a gold calf to worship.
We are just visitors in this world.  Someday we will go to our true home.
